Humble Beginnings: Investing
My first move into the world of the stock market investing began in 2017, shortly after starting my first job out of college. It was a time of curiosity and exploration, fueled by the guidance of a colleague who shared a success story with me and an interest of mine that had always peaked my curiosity. Little did I know, this would mark the beginning of an exciting journey filled with learning, growth, and unexpected opportunities.
The Seed of Curiosity At the heart of my journey was a seed of curiosity planted by a colleague's recommendation to invest in AMD. Intrigued by the idea of investing in stocks, I embarked on a quest to understand the fundamentals of stock market investing. With hours of searching on Google, I began understanding the basic of basics; buying shares and navigating the complexities of the stock market landscape.
From Passion to Portfolio Prior to the AMD recommendation, my close friend and college roommate took interest into gaming and eSports. He would always tell me in college that eSports would be larger than real sports and that the industry was already massive. This coupled with my colleagues suggestion, led me to explore opportunities within the gaming industry. Drawing on my friend's insights into the growing prominence of eSports, I made my first investment in AMD. It didn’t stop there, I also purchased shares of Apple, Tesla, Synopsys, and Bitcoin (which I eventually sold that same year *face palm). Though my decisions were guided more by intuition than by traditional metrics, they marked the beginning of my journey as a stock market investor.
Lessons Learned and Future Growth While my initial investments yielded positive returns, it wasn't until two years later that I truly began to grasp the intricacies of investing.
